I was walking on a beach in cairns Australia in 1991 when I walked into a beach bar and they were listening to this. The owner said he caught her tambourine. Truly world class.

What can you say? This album, and Chrissie Hynde, blew me away when it came out in 1980. Still does. On one hand you got Carole King, Joni Mitchell & similar greats; on the other you got Chrissie Hynde. Songs like “Tattooed Love Boys” and “Precious” were probably previously unheard of. The daring confidence of her real-life poetry is still startling. But “Mystery Achievement,” man, what a way to put a smash ending to the album. I don’t know this woman, but I do know her from her music. I love her as a musician & artist, as a fellow human being, and as a feminine force the likes of which rock has rarely, if ever, seen before or since.
