Different era than "Laughing". "Undun" was the flip side of "Laughing". Randy Bachman played on both. "Broken" was the flip side of "Albert Flasher", at which point Randy had already left the band and Kurt Winter was the lead guitarist. "Broken" was supposed to be the A side but for some reason radio stations started playing the B side ("Albert Flasher") and "Broken" never caught on. Therefore, the band decided to include it on "The Best of the Guess Who Vol.2", even though it was never a hit. True story, straight from Burton.
This was when Kurt Winter was with the Guess Who and was the A side of a 45 release, and Albert Flasher was on the B side which became a world wide mash hit. And believe it or not, both songs were never put on a Guess Who album and neither was Running Down the Street which was on the B side of Hand Me Down World, which was another massive world wide hit.
Agree with graham livingstone. I was there 2/70 to see them live. An incredible band that had the best of everything, guitarist, drummer and the fab. BC, one of a kind with a voice that could go up and down the scale with ease. This song typifies their greatness. The cream rose to the top! This should have been a bigger hit. Never saw it live. Their hard work made it look easy. Fan now for 50 yrs. still see BC when I can.......
Thank you Burton for reminding me I was really, really, really broken before Jesus made me whole. What a relief to know I am not alone. We all share the same suffering in this broken world.
First heard this song when I was 15 on an album checked out from public library. Havent been able to find it anywhere else since then until now. Thanks for posting!
Looking back I believe it would have been a better move if RCA had put Broken and Albert Flasher on the Bannatyne album . Those two songs fit the groove with Rain Dance .
Should have been another double sided big hit world wide along with Albert Fasher that was a big hit. And both songs should have been put on a Guess Who album and so should have Running Down the Street and Silver Bird.
