Ken MacKintosh - The Creep mp3 free

I knew Ken about 20 years ago when I worked in Streatham, South London. He had a broad Northern accent and a great sense of humour.

I also remember this melody as a  "song" on BBC, where the vocalist (female?) whispered in a monotone something about "Everybody did another dance, till they learned to do the creep."   Anybody else remember it?

Great memories of.........The Streatham Locarno, Embassy Welling etc. In 1 month at The Embassy we saw Ken Macintosh, The Ted Heath Band and The Johnny (not John!) Dankworth Seven and The Kirchin Band. Ronnie Scott followed shortly thereafter. Ken played The Creep to great acclaim as we slouched around the ballroom (Teddy Boys included). Those indeed were the days!

My Grandfather drummed for Ken Mackintosh and Ted Heath in his younger days, he has some great stories from those times aha.

First heard this on a Midsomer Murders episode, although the record played credited Ted Heath. This is fabulous.

One of my all-time favourites by a great band.

Love this it is awesome.

I met him in Majorca in the 90s....he was a real character....everyone wanted his autograph....yet he would have prefered that no one reconised him....I was young and he was before my time but i liked him...he was talented but he never flaunted it...Great man.

We also had safety in those days. Many a night I walked from the Elephant to Peckham having missed a late bus. Great dancing at the Locano Streatham, The Lycium Strand, Cafe De Paris Coventry Street, and the Hammersmith Palaise. Even the Co-op dance hall in Rye Lane was safe. The great bands at The Flamingo in Wardour Street and the Marque in Oxford Street. (Yes I was a modern jazz fan, Tubby Hayes, Ronnie Scott etc.)
