The problem is that "busting out a breakdown" ruins the flow of the song 99% of the time and adds to it 1% of the time. Breakdowns have their reputation for a reason because metalcore bands and deathcore bands often use them way too much. A lot of deathcore and metalcore riffs are actually pretty cool, but one-note breakdowns? Generally no.

so what im saying i guess is,that alot of these metal head elitists! are taking crap and bringing other bands and styles down when they probably dont even notice thate the bands there listening to are in fact an amalgamation of diff styles.and its a bit ironic.real musicians will find the good in all types of music and apply it to theirs, and thats what makes a band like Abiotic awsome, there not afraid to bust out a breakdown because people might think low of them, they do it anyway. thats metal

Death metal breakdowns and deathcore breakdowns are two very, VERY different things. Death metal breakdowns = slower, groovier riffs. Deathcore breakdowns = one-note chugging with an occasional solo over it. I know Suffocation has a one-note breakdown as well but they only do it like once ever.

Im not saying there just Deathcore, what im getting at is that alot of these new Tech death bands are influenced by many styless including deathcore the influence is obvious. i started noticing this with many bands way back but especially the first Faceless album, use of heavy breakdowns and that happy type melody usually rare in the original type of Tech Death. A breakdown doesnt make a band deathcore. But you cant deny that breakdowns of this kind were not prevalent in most metal, now it is.

Yeah I know what you mean. yeah you can tell that deathcore influenced them in a way. I try to find good in all subgenres of metal. Took me a while to find some bands that I enjoyed, but I did. I mainly listen to death, black, folk, thrash, and grindcore, but I do enjoy bands like Suicide Silence and what not.
